I'm building a basic 15" projector with the standard lens and pro reflector. I was able to get a 15" LCD for free, however it has 30ms response time and I'm worried that may be too slow for gaming (pc & xbox.) It's a viewsonic VG500b. It does 1024x768 resolution which I think is adequate. Not really wanting to have to buy an LCD if I don't have to, but also don't want to build this projector and it suck because of the crappy Viewsonic LCD.

Anybody have any experience gaming with this monitor, or maybe a different monitor with 30ms response times? THANKS!!

One more thing.. I noticed the Viewsonic VG500b is on the compatable LCD list but seems to have FFC issues. Anyone have any input on this? I'm starting to think I should just shell out $125 or so and get a better LCD..

Any time you're wondering this kind of thing with monitors, just realise
that there are 1000 milliseconds in a second... so a 30ms response time
will get you this:

1000 / 30 = ~33.3 FPS

Which is going to be your maximum framerate that the monitor will show.
Which is also why so many people want at least 15ms... 67FPS is just that
much smoother. But just remember that 33FPS is better than NTSC video,
so if video doesn't bother you, then that shouldn't either... it's a personal
preference.

"One of the [...] former masters had made a tick tock man, all levers and gearwheels and cranks and clockwork. Instead of a brain, it had a long tape punched with holes. Instead of a heart, it had a big spring. Provided everything in the kitchen was very carefully positioned, the thing could sweep the floor and make a passable cup of tea. If everything wasn't carefully positioned, or if the ticking, clicking thing hit an unexpected bump, then it'd strip the plaster off the walls and make a furious cup of cat. Thanks for the response Vonneuton. I hadn't thought about it like that (frames per second.) I think I'm going to throw my free LCD on ebay and go ahead and buy something better. B)

It's better than my first panel I was going to use... 120ms delay. It was one
of those OLD OHP LCD panels.

8 FPS... cutting freaking edge technology in what? 1994? :)
