I have recently finished building my projector, and over all, I'm very pleased with it. However, I've noticed that in some scenes, I'm getting a lot of red color saturation in my pictures. At first I thought that maybe my colors were bleeding through and I might have a bad connection or cable (I'm using component input, because I have no htpc), but I have changed component cables and I'm still getting the same results. I'm using the Magnavox 15mf605t TV, which I've certainly seen used before on this site with good picture results, and I remember reading one of DarkMeat's posts in his plog that recommended adjusting the picture in personal settings menu. Under the personal picture adjustment, I can adjust brightness, color, contrast and sharpness, but tint is greyed out where it is unavailable (which would seem to explain my overly red picture). Is this normal? I suppose that maybe adjusting the tint of a picture through component inputs is not an option, but I certainly didn't think that was the case. Does anyone know if there is something I can do to fix this?

The only thing that I did not reconnect to my stripped monitor when I built my projector was the yellow daughter board (which I believe is only used to control the backlight anyways) and the board that has the manual buttons for the menu and volume; but the remote still works, and every other function on the tv works, except for tint adjustment, so I wouldn't think that not connecting these to my tv would be the issue.

Can someone please help me with this deliemma, or other Magnavox tv users let me know if you ever experienced this same problem?

I mean that under the picture adjustments menu, it lists brightness, color, contrast, sharpness and tint, and using the remote you can scroll down through these and adjust each one individually. But in the menu, the text for brightness - sharpness are white, and I can cycle through these choices, but the text for tint is grey, and I can not get the remote to highlight tint so that I can adjust it, so right now changing the tint of my picture is unavailable.

ok thats what I figured but wanted to make sure. I don't think you want to change the tint anyway since it will effect all colors and will not change the RGB balance. You need to adjust red individually and turn it down or turn blue/green up.

How would one go about doing that, since I have not seen any option like that available using the remote or in the user's manual?

(Isn't Tint generally used to control the color of skin tone anyways, which is where I'm noticing my biggest problem with the overall reddish color?)

I have this LCD, but don't have this problem at all.

For some reason I think I CAN change my tint. I will check when I get home.

I use the AV imputs.

Thanks. It would be nice to be able to compare with someone who is actually using the same lcd tv to know if mine is just a fluke, or if this is normal. If you are able to adjust tint, will you let me know your exact setup so that I can compare (like I posted earlier, I did not re-attach the smaller yellow board when I put my projector together, but I don't see how that would effect the tint settings since I can adjust everything else. . . I hope it doesn't because I think I lost it :o
I was able to tinker long enough last night with the picture settings on my tv and the settings on my dvd player to get a pretty good image; I think the dvd player had a preset picture setting that was giving me the overly red looking picture. Either way, I'd still like to know how I can adjust the tint, since it's annoying that I can change everything on my tv except this.

BTW, have you thought about updating your plog and showing your results? I'd love to see some pictures of your final setup and HT room. I don't know if you went ahead and did the AG removal or not, but I can personally tell you that it is very easy to do with this monitor; I only soaked it for 3.5 hours, and it came off with almost no resistance, and in one sheet.

First, I AM able to adjust my tint. The yellow board was only for the back light and/or the speakers I think. Anyway mine isn't in my projector, and it works fine.

As far as set-up I can't imagine what would be different. I'm using the AV inputs, but that shouldn't matter I don't think, I don't know maybe try it.

I'm going to update my plog when I am completely done. I just haven't had time to get to finish it, every weekend there is a "big game" on that I need to watch. :)

I'm glad to hear removing the AG was easy, I'll go ahead and do it now. I was realy afraid of removing the polariser by mistake with the AG. But no problems huh?

Stay in touch if you have further questions I can help you with.

When I first noticed my problem, I remember cycling through the other input sources (AV, Svideo, PC, etc), and all of them would let me adjust tint except when the HD source was selected (which is the only one I'm using), but I thought that maybe this was because my tv wasn't detecting another available input source, so it wasn't limiting my options. Since you're telling me that you can adjust the tint, but your using the AV (composite) source, maybe adjusting tint with component input is simply not available on this tv for some reason.
I guess the only other thing that would be helpful is if you do have a device with component output available, could you connect it to your projector and see if you are still able to adjust the tint of your picture? If not don't worry about it, I guess I'll just have to make due, because I don't know how I would make tint adjustment on my tv available anyways.

In regards to the AG, I was also hesitant at doing the AG removal for the same fears of damaging the polarizer, but after reading other success stories of removal with this tv, I decided to go for it. I definitely think that 3.5- 4 hours seems like the right amount of time for soaking with this monitor; I remember reading one of DarkMeat's posts where he soaked it longer than this and he said he noticed that the polarizer seemed like it was starting to loosen from the lcd and I believe he said water actually soaked down under the polarizer as well. Plus after soaking for only 3.5 hours, the AG came off very easily, so if I were you, I'd try to soak it for around 3 to 4 hours, and if for some reason your getting resistance, re-soak it and check it again after about 1.5 hours. I can't imagine it taking much longer than that.

I understand wanting to wait until your completely done before posting results (probably why I haven't posted my results yet either. . .), so I guess I'll just keep an eye out for updates to your Plog. Thanks again for your help.
