hello all,
im from the UK and have been looking at the site for a while and have decided to jump on the bandwagon!
I have bought a 250W old OHP and was looking at making my own case but thought, why not use a well designed case by someone else. Lots of people had used pc cases, but these are quite beige and a bit dull.....so what better than a MAC G3 case? This should arrive tomorrow.

My only problem is that im not sure which route to go down with the screen, psone or slightly larger hami or even the one from Carpow. I will be using it either with xbox for games (resolution issues), or connect to my pc for films and GTA:SA!

that sounds like an awesome idea :) interesting. i have a powermac G4 graphite mac. and i agree, i still think these are the coolest looking cases anywhere. surprised you don't like the mac OS, even Mac os X? i can see why you wouldnt like mac classic... it was no better than windows. i'd be interested to see how you're idea works.

so the pornographic mac case has come, they took off the picture from my first post as the nekked ladies which were stuck onto the case were a little bit rude!
ok, now i cant work on it until I get to my other house in a week but ive been thinking about an appropriate design, as i think my fresnals are above 300fl.

But i am confused as to what triplet I would need to get, would its fl need to match that of the fresnals or could it be any value? The OHP i bought only came with a single lens (doh!).

oh yeh, im going to use a SUPER monitor which will just fit into the case, its going to tight though, the case is only 7 inches wide!
oh, and if you want to see the g3 case as it looks now..............

okee dokee, im coming underway, im just awaiting delivery of the triplet now, and im getting an idea of how it will all be laid out!
I was just wondering, how do you work out the measurements of the unsplit setup, such as what distances to place the fresnals from the triplet, and from the lamp?
heres a pic..........just roughly laid out

looks like the same setup used in the PSOne project. also known as the mini-z. check out mydiazclan's plog. the unsplitt setup works just like the splitt setup as far as focal distance. if you know the focal length of your fresnels then you can place the lamp and triplet at those distances. in the PSOne projector I made the focal length was 310mm so the lamp and triplet were placed at these distances. I used the unsplitt config with the fresnels on the lamp side of the LCD. I used the LL vari focal triplet. 80" diag pic at 12' from the screen.
