Hello all after the 10.6" was a huge I hit i decided to look for the next panel to sweep the lumenlab nation so to speak and found this....

Sharp LQ072K1LA03

Size: 7.2"
Resolution: 1280x768
Condition: New

So I dicided that it wouldnt hurt to look into it farther and so i conntacted some foreign trade companys. Now for the good part they got back to me and sent me a load of offer sheets for 10 LCD's. Now there is one problem with this i dont know where to find a controller for them I was hoping that someone may know or the the controller for the 10.6" would work

I think you misunderstood that offer. I think it's 110$ per lcd-screen but you have to buy a minum of 10 monitors which makes a total of 1100$

Oh, I talked to carpow a few weeks ago on this panel, he said the contrast ratio was really bad 1:100 or something. So didnt even order one for testing, he said it would be a waste.

Hey guys thought I would update you. Today I mailed 3 suppliers about 10 panels if its ok with refs i could post the quotes if you guys think that the price is wrong. But anyway my plan is to get 1 panel from the US supplier as a test panel (they do that i already asked them) and with the help of someone see if it will work with either of the 10.6" panel controllers. As i said if you guys want to see the quotes i got i will be more than happy to post them if thats ok with refs (just wanted to make sure because i couldnt post quotes for lenses)

Edit: just saw johnzo1995's post and will have to check on that contrast when i call the US supplier today.

None of Carpow's controllers were ever 'flashed' for our 10.6" panels anyway...so there is a reasonably-good chance they would work as-well with this ws/1280X768 panel (although one needs to make-sude of 'fit' for LVDS-cable and/or 'fab' one).
And published contrast-ratio's/brightness/view-angles figures are pretty 'meaningless' if/when you are going to strip-off AG's/polars then pour ton's of lumens through-panels. [However, refresh-rates are a 'gift that keeps-on giving' for panels used in PJ's]
I'd say 'try-one', and see how it goes? MAYBE someone with a 10.6" controller lives close enough to you for a 'trial-run' experiment? [Or maybe Johnzo could rent-to-own'... ;) ]

It's the same controller as the 10,6" ones but with a different bios

That would be awesome, I am planning on getting a 10.6" as well during the early summer, so I would be able to see if the MST controller would work.

If those panels actually end up being $10-$15 I'll probably jump head first on one (even if I have to look elsewhere for a controller) but I'm guessing they're $110 each with a minimum quantity of 10. I look forward to your testing. I know it would be a lot of effort too, but if you do go with one of these, could you attempt to find out what all the different layers are and how easy they are to remove?

Maybe contrast ratio issues could be resolved by replacing the polarisers, if there are any (issues).

Ok, if you can find a controller for this and your testing goes well, I think I'm gonna have to bite...

this is just for the lcd panel,so what would you need to get it to work besides a controller. ??

Lcd, controller, osd board, power supply, Lvds cable and a datasheet. Oh and an inverter if you want to use the backlight.

It's not actually nearly as complicated as it seems. The general idea is to throw some lenses and a stripped LCD panel in a box with a bright light.

I assumed that the lvds cable, would come with the controller and the OSD would be part of the controller, not a separate board... Can you get a datasheet for this panel (if you already linked to one, I guess I missed it)?
