Anyone know anything about this? If you goto the main Lumen Lab page, it talks about a very nice 42" LCD with what i guess is a built in NICE computer. Anyone have an specs on this? Price? I'm guessing that LL is just putting out a teaser before they have them in stock. That way poeple get worked up, and when they are available, they'll basically have them all sold.... sounds like the EVO! haha. But anyone know any details on this?

So I have to wait for LL to release info, is what your saying? Yeah if i had to guess, with a 1080 HD with a Core Duo with 1Tbyte. That can get pricey. But with LL's ability to sell great products for low cost, what you think like $1600? I bought a nice 720HD 42" plasma and it ran for about $1200, then i built a computer with basically the exact same specs/parts, and that ran me another $600.

FYI: The Q42 is based around a 42" 1080p 24bit LCD.

Though I have no hope of justifying a purchase with the mrs., I have to admit this thing has really peaked my curiosity. A powerline networking technology that is fast enough for HD? Home automation? Pixel-perfect LCDs? (All of them?!?) LL is certainly biting off a lot here.

Curious if it ships with an OS, and if so, which?

Our specification demands zero defects from the LCD manu. All Q's ™ will deliver with a zero defect 3 year warranty. Our dual-LVDS digital data pipelines allow each pixel to display exactly as the source, as we require no conversion, upscaling or HDCP.

Because the iQOS is not ready, the machines may initially ship with a modified-for-automation Ubuntu. The Q ™ far exceeds Vista's reqs.

Brain.....I have cash in hand and I'm getting ready to purchase a gaming computer very soon. I've had good luck so far with the EVO 1.0 so I would consider buying this computer. How long do I have to wait till we get some specs and pricing info?

I'm really wanting to buy something very soon though so any info that would help me make a decision would be great.

Thank you

Well this is what I'm thinking. For a 42" anything, you cant be sitting in front of it like a normal monitor. Like you momma always told you, move back or you'll go blind! So this means that a nice comfortable 4'-6' is possible. Well most keyboards and meeces only have a 4'-6' cord? Anyone else see the issue here. And in a now wireless world, I'm thinking (if LL did they're homework, which i'm pretty sure they're 12 steps ahead of me right now) that they are going to have a keyboard and mouse to along with? maybe IR? RF? WUSB? I dont know much, wait, anything about the OS they are using, so you may not even need a keyboard, just a well designed remote. However, it's doubtful that a computer this powerful is only going to play DVDs and MP3's. It would be smart of them to allow for other applications, like computer games, internet, online game play. But this is just me talking out the wrong end. But I do have one thing to say:

Lumen Labs, you big tease! Why must you make me sit here at my desk, like a giddy little school girl, just wanting to know more about this product! Right now I'm not sure if i should finish my PJ, or start saving. :P Thanks LL for dangling that carrot for us    This is going to be GREAT! (I hope)

If it's any consolation whatsoever even I don't know much more than do you regarding the Q. Whoops . . . hang on . . . I have to go empty my drool bucket. :P

Are HD-DVD and/or Blu-Ray drives for PC cheap enough to include on this yet? That would be a neat feature - completely integrated HD playback.

Now I know this would be next to impossible (due to FCC and copyright protection) But having a built in HD-DVR would be SWEET! for those w/ DirectTV or HD Cable, being able to record from an HD source to the hard drive would be nice. HAHA if LL incorporated all the above mentioned features, they could sell this thing for $5k+ and still corner the market. Even at a price like that, they'd have more back orders than they would know what to do with! :ohnoes:

The Q42 is hardware-capable of recording HD content. However, there is no tuner installed- so this will have to be provided by the user, though we may offer it in the not-to-distant future.

Edit: Sorry, let me clarify so there's no confusion. The user will have to add a USB tuner. These support resolutions up to 1080i (I don't think 1080p is supported yet, OTOH there are no 1080p broadcasts yet either.) We may consider negotiating out cable-card in the future.

It does all of that, and you're not just limited to a USB tuner. Firewire is onboard, as well as pci-e16 and mini-pci. We do not 'integrate' a tuner for obvious reasons.

How is this possible? I've been looking for HD tuners to record forever. what, So i guess what your saying then is, if i can get the HD into the computer then i can record it. OHH ok. Sorry must have miss read from the beginning.

Well does this monitor have alternate inputs like Component? composite? extra VGA/DVI? I guess i'm asking if one can switch between the computer to an alternative source such as a cable box, etc without any kind of tuner.
