Forgive my noob ignorance, but I was thinking about this last night: why paint the inside of your projector boxes black? Isn't black the most absorbent of all colors? i.e. it doesn't reflect as much light as the others? Does it help by making it "darker" on the inside?

thanks,

- Chris.

Yes it does absorb stray light. It is for this reason we paint it black. To absorb stray light reflections.
All usable light is going through the lenses, all else is wasted.

Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. I guess I didn't really stop and think that if all the light were perfectly aligned/focused, none of it would/should be touching the sides/bottom/top of the box.

Thanks.

It's okay to NOT paint it black behind the lamp (as long as you don't get reflections out of your fans... but from the condenser forward think of it like if a bunch of gnomes were walking around in there with flashlights, thoses would show up on your projected images! :D
