A reflector behind your bulb will help block light as well as adding a filter to your fan. A lot of people add louvres to the outside of their box to reduce light leakage.

If you can't find an approprate reflector, maybe just a piece of sheet metal or pie plate located behind the bulb. To prevent a direct path of the light. Then cover with an air cond filter, open cell foam over both in and out. They are avail at Walmart for less than $3. You can double it over if needed. It is designed to pass a large volume of air and is black.

No, thats not the stuff. It's a replacement filter for a window air conditioner. Or a foam filter for a shop vac. same stuff someware in my plog there is a link to some.
Here it is! 6 posts down

Also how about a prefilter for a HEPA filter. The one I use has like properties.

Hey all!

Well I've decided to do this with my projector........well....for now anyway. I cannot seem to find a hemispherical bowl anywhere in the UK to use.

So at the moment im just going to use allumunium shielding round the bulb to stop the light getting out the fan. Will this still be ok for cooling ?

Thank You!

In response to the Dryer Vent. You can make something similar with some sheet metal or some thin plywood.

The point is to put a cover over it and re-direct the air, while absorbing the light using flat black surfaces.

You can either point the louver downward or upward depending on your setup.

This is just a sample drawing.
