Brainchild and Robin have been hard at work in the hot warehouse shipping all of the backorders. If you're waiting for an order check your email for tracking or login to the store.
What's going on with the site
by Kellie Sigler on 04-Jun-08 01:00 in NoneI mentioned in my previous post that there was an explosion at on of the data centers of our webhost: The Planet. It affected 9,000 servers. Most of those are back online.. including us (for now). Our server is on the first floor of The Planet's H1 datacenter. This is where the explosion was. They have us and the rest of the first floor (about 3,000 servers) running on a temporary generator for right now. The last I heard they're expecting the proper gear to be delivered at the end of the week. I have no idea how long it will take them to install it.
Yesterday (Tues) the temporary generator went down. We were offline for most of the day. When we came back online the forums database was corrupt from the unexpected crash. There was no permanent damage and the database is repaired. The shopping cart was also affected.. but is working now. Hopefully things will continue to run smoothly. I will feel better when we're running on the proper gear again. I will let you all know when that happens.
Explosion at the planet = website outage
by Kellie Sigler on 02-Jun-08 01:00 in NoneOur webhost (theplanet.com) had an explosion Sat night which caused a huge outage. 9,000 servers were affected - we were one of them. We're back as of Monday afternoon. Customer service is a little backed up... but other than that we're operating as normal.

Store problems now fixed
by Kellie Sigler on 19-May-08 01:00 in NewsThe secure server was down Sunday-Monday night preventing orders from being made. It is now fixed and the store is open for business. The backend of the store is also accessed through a secure connection. We were unable to access existing orders during this outage which means a shipping day was missed and customer service was unable to help some people until now. We'll work extra hard tomorrow to make sure everything gets caught up.
Experiencing Power Outages
by Kellie Sigler on 12-May-08 01:00 in NewsOur customer service rep, Bennie, has been without power and telephone all day today after Hampton Roads was hit by strong storms last night. We think power will be restored this evening. If you are waiting to hear from him please be patient. He'll catch up as quickly as possible when power is restored.

by Kellie Sigler on 23-Mar-08 01:00 in DIY PJ,NewsDIY lenses are finally here! We've been hard at work this weekend getting all of the backorders packed. If you've been waiting check your inbox for a tracking number. Brainchild snapped some pics so you all could see the packing process.
Boxes packed and waiting to be sealed.
Robin and I finishing up a few boxes. I am 8 months pregnant.. woo! Even though it looks like I've been hard at work I really just showed up at the end. Robin and Brainchild did all of the packing.
Robin is doing a little sipping and handling. (Any mistakes, blame him)
Keep an eye out for your packages. They should be there soon.
DIY Projector Lenses
by Kellie Sigler on 19-Mar-08 01:00 in DIY PJ,NewsI wanted to give everyone an update on the backordered DIY projector lenses. We've all been waiting for a while.. and there has been one delay after another with this batch. The lenses have shipped (from China) and are expected to clear customs today. They should be here at our warehouse by Friday. We have a lot of backorders, but will try to get them all packed over the weekend so that everyone's order will ship on Monday. We really appreciate the patience we've seen in customers who are waiting. It goes to show that DIY projector builders have a good sense of community and large capacity for the unexpected. If anything changes I'll post updates here.
RoBLOKS: A Robotics Revolution
by Kellie Sigler on 25-Feb-08 01:00 in CNC,Cool Stuff,NewsLumenlab has launched the first product of the RoBLOKS series. RoBLOKS is an idea of Grayson's (aka Brainchild) for creating a modular robotic tool that is adaptable to any use and is affordable to the public. You can read the full manifesto on our RoBLOKS page. The first module is the Lumenlab RoBloks Gantry Robot (RoGR). We just started taking orders for a pre-buy on the bearing kit. We're all excited to see what the Lumenlab community can create with this kind of technology.
